How to Be A RockStar For Your Dog

Because RockStar Dogs Need RockStar People!

Our objective in providing you with the materials here is to help you build a solid foundation of socially responsible obedience and an enjoyable life partnership with your dog. Please keep the following in mind:

  • Properly executed, you will effectively strenghten the character of your dog in a beneficial way to you and your dog allowing for an enhanced enjoyment of life with your dog.

  • It is incredibly important that you follow the homework each week to the best of your ability.

  • Your dog will not train themself to do the things that YOU want them to do!

  • Remember to always be fair to your dog, set them up for success, and reward them for a job well done!

  • Do not cheat your dog out of a proper education...they rely upon YOU to step up teach them the things they need to know.

  • Teach your dog that THEY get to choose. Help them understand that making the right choice will lead to rewards. This results in less conflict and more desirable behavior.

DO

  • Read all the materials and watch each video

  • Refer back to the materials often

  • Replace your daily walks with training time until you acheive your gaols

  • Ask questions

  • Send progress videos

  • Use training "set ups"

  • Motivate your dog with enthusiastic praise and significant rewards when earned

  • Use proper and effective corrections as appropriate

  • Show your dog, teach your dog, proof against distractions

  • Limit options - Guide choices - Control outcomes!

DON'T

  • Take or seek advice from friends, online trainers or social media

  • Expect changes with your dog if continue doing what you've always done

  • Put your dog in situations they can't navigate successfully (this means NO REGULAR WALKS for now

  • Don't try to work your dog above their level of undertanding or in environments that are too challenging

  • Don't force your dog

  • Don't nag your dog, mean what you say

  • Forget that learning happens at BOTH ends of the leash

  • Make excuses for not doing the work!
